Qantas, the airline based in Sydney is offering cheap flights to some cities of new zealand such as Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown. Qantas is proposing cheap flights to Auckland as from $231, to Wellington as from $326 and to Queenstown as from $396 for travel between 1st April 2009 and 18th March 2009 and to Christchurch as from $280 for travel between 1st April 2009 and 25th March 2010. However all these cheap flights offered by Qantas are for a one way ticket only.

Qantas, the airline based in Sydney proclaimed today on the 11th March 2009 its new codeshare agreement with Etihad Airways, the flag carrier airline of Abu Dhabi. Thus the codeshare agreement will give Qantas the opportunity to allow to its passengers to non stop flights to Abu Dhabi. Moreover passengers of Qantas will also be able to have connections to Amman, Beirut and Bahrain. Furthermore with the new codeshare agreement Qantas will offer 21 weekly Etihad flights to Abu Dhabi i.e. 11 non stop flights departing from Sydney, 7 non stop flights departing Melbourne and 3 flights from Brisbane via Singapore. On the other hand Etihad Airways will codeshare Qantas flights between Australia and Auckland. Moreover Qantas will also codeshare on some of Qantas domestic flights between Adelaide and Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney and Cairns and Sydney.

The national airline of Australia, Qantas announced that it will reduce its fuel surcharges on its international flights. Thus Qantas is proposing a one way ticket between the United Kingdom and Europe as from $95 instead of $160, a one way air ticket between the United States, Canada, South America, South Africa and India as from $85 instead of $160, a one way airline ticket to the Asia, the Pacific or Honolulu as from $55 instead of $95 and finally to New Zealand as from $30 instead of $55.
