Air passengers suffering from flight delays of more than three hours will receive cash compensation from airlines according to the European Court of Justice. Under the new regulation, passengers delayed for more than three hours will be paid €600 (£542). However, airlines do not have to offer compensation if flights are cancelled or delayed due to extraordinary circumstances unless it followed an incident connected with the normal running of the airline.
Both Germany and Austria had sought clarification of the applicable EU legislation before reaching a judgment on passengers seeking compensation from Condor and Air France airlines when their flights were delayed by 22 hours and 25 hours respectively.

After the suspension of its operations, Skyeurope is informing the travelers about ticket refund. Due to bankruptcy, Skyeurope has ceased operations since the 1st September 2009. Travelers who bought a ticket via its website and paid by credit card can revert to the credit card department of their bank for ticket refund. If the ticket was bought using any other payment mode, the ticket refund might not be possible. For travelers who bought their ticket with a travel agency, Skyeurope ticket refund after bankruptcy may be possible but they must deal directly with the concerned agency.

The reimbursement of an airline ticket after bankruptcy depends on a few things. First of all, the place of purchase; either with a travel agency or on the website of the airline company and the payment method. If the ticket was bought on the website of the company, reimbursement is not an obligation unless the air ticket was paid with a credit card. On the other hand, if the ticket was bought at a travel agency, then the air tickets will be reimburse but under specific conditions. Some travel agencies will not reimburse lowcost air tickets or cover a flight-only ticket.
