The Oneworld alliance declared on January 19, 2010 that JAL Japan Airlines will offer during the period of restructuration benefits to Oneworld passengers. JAL Japan Airlines also maintains the benefits of its loyalty programfollowing its filing of bankruptcy in the court of Tokyo. All operations are maintained by JAL Japan Airlines and the Oneworld alliance member airlines will provide their support to the JAL Japan Airlines during this period.

Oneworld Alliance will shift, as from September 2009, to the Barcelona airport Terminal 1. Oneworld Alliance at Terminal 1 will bring five airlines to serve the Barcelona airport, that is: Iberia and its subsidiary Iberia Regional Air Nostrum, American Airlines, British Airways, Finnair and Royal Jordanian. Even though Vueling is not considered as a member of the Oneworld Alliance, it is moving along with the other airlines to the Terminal 1 in Barcelona. Oneworld is the only alliance having members based in Australia, South America or the Middle-East Asia.

During the award ceremony organized in 2008 in Los Angeles, American airlines member of the oneworld Alliance, has been awarded the price of the “Best first Class in North America”. American airlines has improved its cabin interior, offers menus and wines upmarket, internet access in Wi-Fi on some transcontinental flights. American airlines also provides access to private lounges for passengers on transcontinental flights.
