The flag carrier airline of Spain, Iberia and GOL the airline based in Brazil have signed a code share agreement on the 20th October 2009. Hence Iberia will place its letter codes to GOL flights taking off from Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo to 13 Brazilian destinations under this code share agreement. In other words under this code share agreement between Iberia and GOL, Iberia will have the chance to fly to Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Curitiba, Florianopolis, Fortaleza, Foz do Iguaçu, Goiania, Manaus, Natal, Porto Alegre, Recife, Salvador de Bahia and Vitoria. Moreover besides Iberia and GOL code share agreement, Iberia and GOL are also evaluating the chance of connecting their frequent flyers programs, Iberia Plus and GOL’s Smiles. In other words Iberia Plus cardholders will have the possibility to add points on any GOL flights and GOL’s Smiles cardholders will be able to earn points on any Iberia flights.
