On 7th July 2010 Europa published its new list on blacklisted airlines. Europa new list of blacklisted airlines has seen the entry of three airlines namely Blue Wing Airlines from Suriname, Congo Express from Congo and Kyrgyzstan Airlines from Kyrgyzstan. From the new list of the blacklisted airlines published by Europa figure four airlines that have been removed from the list namely Metro Batavia and Indonesia Air Asia both based in Indonesia , Air Bangladesh based in Bangladesh and Interisland Airlines based in Philippines. Furthermore, from this new list of Europa Blacklisted Airlines certain carriers such as Air Koryo, Afrijet, Air Astana, Air Service Comores, Gabon Airlines, Iran Air, Nouvelle Air Affaires Gabon, Taag Angola Airlines and Ukrainian Mediterranean are allowed to fly in the European Union but in using aircrafts as specified by the European Commission.

With the reinforcement of Europa passengers rights concerning flight cancellation, passengers can ask for compensations or reimbursement. Passengers have the right to ask for a compensation or reimbursement if their flights have been cancelled without notice. The passengers rights concerning long flight delays and cancellations states that a passenger whose flight have been cancelled should be reimburse within 7 days if the flight has not been rerouted. Also, the Europa passengers’ rights affirm that a passenger can ask for accommodation, refreshments, and telephone calls if their flights have been permanently cancelled. Passengers have been empowered by new amended law and regulations by the European Commission to prevent abuse from airlines.

Flight delays are becoming more frequent and passengers flying do not know their rights. The European Commission has now emphasized on the rights of passengers concerning flight delays. Europa is fighting for stranded passengers by firstly informing them about their rights and fighting against abuses of airlines concerning flight delays. For instance, passengers have the right to ask for compensation to an airline if their flights have been delayed. Europa campaign is to guarantee the rights of passengers and focusing on the flights delays. Moreover, if a flight has been delayed for more than 2 hours a passenger can ask for compensations such as phone call, refreshments, meal and accommodation. Also, the passenger have the right to ask for a refund or compensations if the flight has been delayed for more than 5 hours, The massive campaign by the European commission is to fight against abuses and to help stranded passengers to know their rights.
